Peabody Energy Australia - North Goonyella Coal Mine

Project summary

Peabody (Bowen) Pty Ltd has lodged an application for an amendment to an existing environmental authority under Chapter 5 of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 in relation to mining lease 6949 for the purpose of expanding its open-cut operations.

The following activities have been applied for:

  • mining of black coal.

Project location

The North Goonyella Coal Mine is a combination open-cut (Eaglefield) and underground (North Goonyella) coal mine located approximately 50 km south-west of Glenden in the Central Queensland Highlands and 17 km from the Burton Gorge Dam.
