The Spring provides information about the conservation and recovery of Queensland’s native plant and animal species, particularly those at risk of extinction.

The Spring provides useful resources and tools for groups and individuals involved with species recovery.

Many species need our help, and the best way to recover species is for people to work together on common goals. The Spring can help you find out what still needs to be done, and how you can help.

The Spring presents information from the Back on Track species prioritisation framework. You can search for a species, threat or action or find lists of species, threats and actions produced by Back on Track.

The Spring also presents information on species taxonomy and conservation status under either Queensland or Australian legislation (e.g. endangered, vulnerable, etc) from the Queensland Government’s WildNet database. Details of description, habitat, distribution, biology and ecology are also available for some species.

The Spring is an initiative of the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection. It replaces and builds upon the Recovery Actions Database (RAD)—the original application which provided information on species recovery generated by the Back on Track species prioritisation framework.

Species lists for particular areas (e.g. national parks, local government areas) or areas generated by using coordinates are available through Wildlife Online. Other species profile information and wildlife information can be accessed from the Queensland Government website.
