There are many ways the community can get involved and help protect and manage our environment

Land and sea rangers. The Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger program aims to improve Indigenous participation in managing land and sea country.

Private protected areas are voluntary conservation agreements between landholders and the department to protect areas of significant conservation value.

Introduction of Special Wildlife Reserves Bill. The Bill introduces a new class of protected area that will provide national park level protection to private lands of exceptional natural and cultural value.

NatureAssist is a financial incentives program designed to encourage and assist private land conservation in Queensland.

Community Sustainability Action grants program provides funding to eligible community groups to undertake activities which address climate change, conserve Queensland’s natural and built environment and protect our unique wildlife.

Volunteers across the state assist on a variety of projects which retain, restore and improve our environment.
