Climate change presents one of the greatest challenges for the protection of Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage values.
A wide range of plant and animal lineages and communities with ancient origins in the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia survive only or largely within this area.
Climate change will impact particularly those relict species in restricted habitats at higher altitudes, where particular microclimatic conditions have enabled these species to survive.
