Burdekin Basin

The Burdekin Basin and Great Barrier Reef coastal waters have recently been the subject of a water quality improvement plan (WQIP) prepared by the NQ Dry Tropics Regional NRM body in collaboration with stakeholders.

Status

Not scheduled. Draft consultation materials (reporting, maps) available for comment.

Draft environmental values (EVs), water quality objectives (WQOs) and mapping for Burdekin Basin and Great Barrier Reef coastal waters are included in the Burdekin Region Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP) prepared by NQ Dry Tropics. They, along with other information sources, will be used to develop materials for scheduling under the Environmental Protection (Water) Policy – the EPP Water. Draft EPP Water consultation materials will be released for comment on the EHP website.

Water Quality Improvement Plans / Healthy Waters Management Plans

The Burdekin Region Water Quality Improvement Plan website contains draft environmental values, water quality objectives and mapping for the waters of the Burdekin Basin.

Once finalised, spatial datasets for scheduled areas will be available from the Queensland Spatial Catalogue, Qspatial. Search for ‘EPP’.
